When I sit down to write, I am usually either sitting at a desk (like I am now) or laying on my bed (as I will be in a few minutes). I developed an actual writing method when I took Creative Writing 1 and 2 in high school. The process starts as me sitting down with just an idea or sometimes just a sentence I like the sound of. From there, I spew out a bunch of crap that revolves around the idea. Next comes ordering: I change around the order of the story or paper until it feel right. Lastly I pay attention to the individual sentences and word choices. That’s all in one sitting. Then, I come back a day or so later and go through what I wrote because it is inevitable that I will dislike about half of it. Once this is done, I’m done.
